About Kirinyaga Central Constituency
National Government Constituency development fund is a fund injected to the constituencies from the central government for the purpose of funding various central government development projects initiated by the local communities. Currently the fund is more utilized to finance projects under the central government which may include primary, secondary and tertiary education, security among others. This fund comprises of 2.5% of the government revenue.
0.1 About KIRINYAGA CENTRAL
Kirinyaga central is one of the constituencies in Kirinyaga County; it is divided into four electoral wards (Kanyekiini, Mutira, Inoi and Kerugoya). The Hon Member of parliament for Kirinyaga Central is Hon Joseph G. Gitari. Agricultural wise Kirinyaga central is known for the production of tea leaves on upper side, coffee and bananas in the middle part and maize, beans and other crops on the lower part. This constituency is also known for the excellent performance of students in various schools and has a population of about 40 secondary schools and 45 primary school distributed all over the constituency. Due to fairly good resources Kirinyaga central ranks among the first ten constituencies with the high per capita income. The current financial year 2016/17 this constituency was allocated kshs 81,896,551.72 to finance various development projects as per the proposal obtained from various ward meetings conducted for the constituents to discuss and forward to the CDF committee their needs.
