Friday, 12th June 2026 â The NG-CDF Board fraternity gathered to celebrate a man who gave the better part of his career to this institution, and to this country.
Mr. Yusuf Mbuno, EBS, outgoing Chief Executive Officer of NG-CDF Board, has served this country through NG-CDF for 16 years with a quiet tenacity that defined every year of his tenure.
He led through growth, through change, and through moments that tested the institution’s very foundations, and never once lost sight of the mission.
The evening was everything the occasion deserved. The band played, gifts were presented, and the room was filled with the kind of warmth that only comes when people are genuinely celebrating someone they love and respect.
Mr.Mbuno was a man of remarkable humility, who made every person in the room, from the most junior member of staff to the most senior official, feel equally seen and equally valued.
Speeches were delivered by Board Chairman Hon. Olago Aluoch, CBS, Ag. CEO Mr. Benjamin Magut, PS for Economic Planning Dr. Makokha, Board Directors, Hon. Farrah Maalim on behalf of the Speaker of the National Assembly Rt. Hon. Moses Wetang’ula, EGH, MP, Hon. Gisairo Clive, MP for Kitutu Masaba Constituency, and the MP for West Mugirango Constituency, each paying tribute to a man whose work reached far beyond the walls of any boardroom. Also in attendance were former Board Directors Benson Kimani and Isabel Waiyaki, and a gathering of former and current staff whose careers were quietly shaped by his mentorship.
NG-CDF exists to bring development to those who need it most, to reduce poverty, to open doors for children who would otherwise find them closed. That mission lived in him personally. Every life touched by this Fund during his tenure carries the quiet imprint of his leadership.
We are not just saying goodbye to a CEO. We are honouring a mentor, a servant leader, and a man whose excellence became our standard.
Farewell, Mr. Mbuno. Sixteen years of service to Kenya, through NG-CDF. A lifetime of impact. Kenya owes you more than words can say.
