Eldama Ravine Marathon 2020
The Eldama Ravine Marathon was held on 28th November, 2020 in Eldama Ravine constituency,Baringo County. The aim of the Marathon is to raise funds for infrastructure development for Uzalendo School; the school takes a model of the Starehe Boy’s center in Nairobi County, of offering education to bright needy students. The marathon also supports the Chemususu Dam catchment area where the Chemususu Dam lies. The dam benefits some 600,000 Baringo and Nakuru residents.
This race was sanctioned by the Athletics Kenya and the Anti-Doping Agency. The organizing team ensured that all participants wore face masks. Currently, face masks are aimed at limiting the spread of the Covid-19 Virus. Athletes cannot run with these masks.Wearing the masks while running a whole marathon limits oxygen intake which can be dangerous to athletes.Therefore, participants were required to drop the masks once the race started thereafter, keeping distance.
NG-CDF participated in the corporate race which was a 10 kilometre race comprising of steep slopes,chilly weather and local spectators.NG-CDF competed against, Eldama Ravine NG- CDF, Equity Bank, Safaricom, among others. NG-CDF Board’s very own Mr.Caleb Tomno from the progams department emerged the overall winner in this race. This race proved a major waking call for some of the Board’s team members. Some members were faced with backaches and other bodily aches. Many walked with limps,while some made low whining pitiful sounds.

Sponsors were drawn from both Government and Private sectors. NG-CDF Sponsorship for this event is in line with the Board’s CSR activities of improving the environment in which it operates in. The event was graced by the area Member of Parliament Hon Moses Lessonet , NG-CDF Board CEO Mr. Yusuf Mbuno, NG-CDF Board Staff among other stakeholders.
This is the 7th edition of the Marathon.
