LAUNCH OF PROJECTS IN MARAKWET EAST AND MARAKWET WEST CONSTITUENCIES

His Excellency, Dr. William Samoei Ruto, C.G.H., Ph.D. launched the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) – Kerio Valley Campus in Marakwet East Constituency, a fully funded project by the NG-CDF. The campus was constructed at a cost of KES 100,861,758, with funding from both Marakwet East NG-CDF (KES 90,861,758) and Marakwet West NG-CDF (KES 10 million). This collaboration aligns with the NG-CDF Act and is a best practice worth emulating.
The project, funded between the financial years 2020/2021, 2021/2022, and 2022/2023, included: An equipped, Administration block ,an equipped 8-classroom Tuition Block, a Septic Tank with a soak pit, an equipped Library and Skills Lab
The Kerio Valley Campus, located in a once insecure area, is now poised to enhance medical education in the region and open doors to opportunities for local citizens. The NG-CDF, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, has initiated 61 other KMTC campuses from scratch across the country, with an approximate enrollment of 13,551 students. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to expand KMTC’s presence across the country, increasing access to quality medical training, improving the quality of life for citizens, and supporting universal health care.
In addition to the KMTC, The President also launched two other transformative educational institutions in Marakwet East Constituency, including:
– Kerio Valley Technical Training Institute (TTI): Co-funded with the Ministry of Education (MoE) to boost technical skills development.
– Liter Girls Secondary School.
