NG-CDF BOARD PARTICIPATES IN THE 2019 MUTUINI HALF MARATHON

NG-CDF Board registered and participated as a corporate team in the recently concluded Mutuini Half Marathon held on April, 28 2019. This is part of NG-CDF Board efforts to; reduce poverty, improve visibility, promote sports activities and engage with stakeholders.

The second edition of the marathon was graced by area M.P Hon. John Kiarie, the area MCA Hon. Nganga Mukiri , corporate sponsors, children from the center and the general public with the hope of raising funds to sustain the project and reach more children.

The races were categorized into; the 21 km race men (elite and corporate), the 21 km race women (elite and corporate), the 10 km race men (elite and corporate), the 10 km race women (elite and corporate) and the 3.5 km family fun race.

Mutuini Hope center was established in the year 2015 through which the founders hoped to keep a few children away from the streets and hopefully afford them decent meals, a safe place to spend their day and a chance to study.

The initiative began with 15 children to 70 boys and girls in just three months and with growth in population came a challenge of resources and space.

Seeing that this could no longer be an informal initiative, the founders registered Mutuini Hope & Development project, a community based organization operating in Mutuini Ward; Dagoretti South Constituency in Nairobi County.

The first edition of the Mutuini Half Marathon was held on April, 29, 2018 to raise funds for purchase of land and establishment of Mutuini Hope Complex, a state-of-the-art facility providing basic and tertiary education including vocational training, medical care, counseling, sports and recreation and talent development for children and youth.
